History of the Barcelona city
The Museu d'Història de la Ciutat (Museum of the history of the city) tells us the history of the city of Barcelona on three floors in the Palau Clarina Padellàs. The Palau Padellàs, a Gothic palace, in 1931 stone by stone from Carrer de Mercaders to the Plaça del Rei. The reason for this effort was the construction of a road.
At the new place of the palace was found in the excavations remains one of the largest Roman settlement ever discovered in Europe: Barcino, as Barcelona was in Roman times. The museum is located in the middle of the Barri Gòtic near the cathedral.
Visting the city museum
In the modern entrance to the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, some ancient ceramics and other objects which are found in the excavations. With the lift ride in the basement then make a journey of 2,000 years in the time of the Romans. Here you will find the remains of a well-maintained and supplemented by drawings vividly Roman settlement: Barcino. The admission ticket is valid for the museum, palace chapel, Torre del Rei and the excavations. Free entry to the Museu d'Història de la Cuitat get with the Barcelona Card.
